Calm
By Bill Harrison
Eva’s work offers us a new view of a familiar world. She
shows us exactly what she sees, nothing more. And yet we are struck by the abstract quality of the shapes dancing
on paper and the complex and subtle blending of transparent watercolors. Through her process of seeing, sketching, cutting onto multiple wood blocks, and then reassembling through layered printing, she takes a common landscape and turns it into something miraculous. Her calm yet intricate scenes reveal hidden secrets and energies.
She creates an intense depth of space which allows these mysteries to breath and flow. A light open atmosphere envelopes us and we feel as though we are seeing our own long forgotten memory or dream. We see for the first time that which has always surrounded
us.
